Just a few things about the Dos version of Comet since that's one of my favorite programs around. If you don't really care for the colors that it comes with, use the "colors" command to adjust them. The colors that I find to be more pleasant than the ones that Comet comes with are: The board using light and dark grey, for the pieces I use black and white, and for the backround color I use black.
The Level (time per move) can be set with Alt T, pondering is turned on & off with Alt P, Alt N starts a new game, Alt B selects 3 different sound settings, weak, louder, and off, F1 will get you to help & Esc will return you to the board from help.
And to save the settings to disc so that Comet will have the same settings next time you start it up, use the "init" comand.
The Dos version of Comet will do allot more than it appears to be capable of, it can even be used to veiw games in a pgn file and can append games to a pgn file, it can use endgame tablebases (how many Dos programs can do that?) and probably allot of things that I don't know about. One of my favorite programs.
