Hello,
I've started a new JH-tournement at my office. New computer P3-500Mhz with 64Mb.
Because my computer don't have anything to do overnight, so ....
First Results :
Goliath V2.0 - Phalanx 21 : 1 - 3 !!!! Goliath totally outplayed
Nimzo 2000b - Crafty 17.13 : 3 - 1
Anmon 5.03 - Nimzo 2000b : 2 - 2 !!! Fine result by Anmon.
Tempo : 40moves / 1 hour
Updates : Crafty / Anmon and Phalanx will be updated tomorrow.

A good idea to letting play the computer(s) overnight at the office.

Nice to see Anmon503 doing well. Maybe you should try out Anmon505.. It seems that ANmon505 is stronger with slower time limits.
On the other hand, I find Lgol2.0 very impressive when playing against other free ware engines at Blitz (except for crafty) often crushing them badly ,probably because it's a extremly fast seacrher and in Blitz time controls that's important??
Still my tests at Blitz typically show that Crafty177 beats Golith with a typical ratio of 4 to 2..Altough, Lgol does far better against other engines like Anmon,Phalanx than Crafty does..
One more point, is it true that the Crafty's and other engines conpiled by Dan Corbit are better than the orginals?
Also, it appears that the winboard adpator in Fritz sometimes makes the other engines run erratically. Even if they work, it seems to me that the non-fritz engines spend a couple of second loading whenever it's their turn to move hence losing time. This is significant when you test primarly at Blitz controls. It's not a disk swap lack of memory problem since I ensure that i use only 8MB each and I have 64 Mb..

BTW, is it true that the top chess engines will crush anyone(even the world's top 10) at Blitz time controls? If so, I find that playing Blitz games to decide which program(commerice or freee) is the best is extremly significant, since the winner would be the absolute world champion(currently existing) at say 5 mins time controls!!
But then again, I supposed a unsolved problem (where Humans still top computer) is more interesting than a answered one. Hence explaining why people tend to test longer time controls..
