I did some major surgery. It kept crashing in the EPD processing section, so I added in an EPD parser that I wrote that didn't give me as many problems.
Let the buyer beware [but it's cheap at twice the price of $0.00]. Colin is not responsible for any evil thing this version might do. And I probably won't try to fix anything either. But the source is in the archive, so you can have a go yourself if you so desire.

Thanks a lot for your help so far, Dann. Much appreciated I think that the number of people with Winboard is larger than the number who have Xboard. Anyone have any figures to support this? I guess I could ask Tim Mann.
As soon as I work out how to convert into WinBoard format, I'll do the conversions myself and post them on my web page along with the standard Unix/xboard version.

Actually, the xboard and winboard commands are identical.
There are some unix specific commands in your code (e.g. ls for directory, things like that) that need a tweak. Also, you have your chess home directory hardwired. I made it an environmental variable instead. I just do this:
SET COLCHESS_PATH=E:\COLCHESS\
and then the program knows where to find stuff.
