Configuring Colchess with Winboard

Hello, I cannot run Colchess with Winboard. I read the readme and tryed many things including autoexec.bat and removing the slashs before define xboard under chess.h. The tweaked colchess version is detected with a low 100 kb of memory from TaskInfo2000 but never executes, and the winboard compatible version from the authors web site is not even detected. What am I doing wrong? I use Windows 98, Pentium 200 mhz with 40 mb of RAM.

Is there any way to access your detail page in English? Its difficult to read directions not in English. I have config.zip and autoexex.bat and still the program colchess fails to execute.

Hi Eric,
for me it is not possible to translate all 42 detail pages in english. My english is not good enough and I have not the time. I think 2 months when I make this !
But when other people translate my detail pages I will put the new pages on my webpage. Then I will send all 42 HTML files via eMail !
Kind regards
Frank

Use altavista's babelfish service. The English it produces isn't exactly perfect, but you get the general idea.
http://babelfish.altavista.com (I think)
To get ColChess running there's three things you must do (basically)
(1) Set up that line in autoexec.bat (set COLCHESS_PATH=) and reboot.
(2) Make sure winboard knows the path to the ColChess directory (this may or may not be necessary depending on system. use the -fd and -sd flags on winboard)
(3) Make sure winboard has the correct .exe name (and I think some versions don't work if you rename it to more than 8 characters long.) You might want to put the .exe file in the winboard directory to make sure.
Cheers,
Colin

Thank you! I still find your detail pages and config.zip very helpful. I configured every available Winboard program other than Colchess. I completed five Winboard tournaments with all the programs. They are double or triple elimination blitz tournaments. If you are interested in the results let me know.
