Need help with Arasan and SoS under Fritz GUI

Hello all,
I have downloaded and setup SOS and Arasan 5.4 under the Fritz GUI. I have used the winboard.eng file and have the correct naming conventions for the adapters and the folders and execuatables for each engine. My questions are these...
First for Arasan...Is there a command line parameter for turning off the book? Also, I am only getting a ply 1 depth when I play against it. Should I be setting something for the depth in the command line also?
Second for SOS. Once the game leaves the opening book, SOS will not move. If I stop the game and unload the engine, my computer hangs until I end the task on SOS. Is there something I am doing wrong?
The init files for both engines I obtained from Franks webpage. I have a 266 machine with 180 megs of RAM and plenty of drivespace. If you need anything else for information, let me know.

Hi Al,
SOS (the freely available winboard engine) doesn't run
under the chessbase-GUI. But there is a commercial
version released on the Young Talents-CD from Chessbase,
which works fine. Take a look at the homepage (www.chessbase.com)
Regards,
Arnold

Hello Arnold
I report this problem to Jon Dart. He sent this nervous message:
"I don't have Fritz 6 and don't support running Arasan in that
environment. In other words, you're on your own. Jon Dart"
Best regards

You could try downloading the Chessbase config files at Franks Quisinskys page. The URL is:
http://www.in-trier.de/~quisinsky/schac ... load-q.htm
I don't know if there's a Arasan setup available, but it's worth a try.
Best wishes...

Arasan 5.4 is working fine under fritz using settings like
this
[Parameter]
CommandLine = -H 32000
Engine = Arasan 5.4
Author = USA, Jon Dart
[Support]
AnalyzeMode = False
PonderMode = False
5.4 seems to be 50-80 points stronger then 5.3 after first tests.
But 5.3 still had st. difficulties with ill.moves.
SOS does not work as wb-engine, but the native is playing
very strong, I am really impressed. Playing activchess so far the strongest amateurengine under fritz, especially against other amateurs.
Against the professionals things are looking different...

Arasan does support pondering (at least in Winboard), so I am
puzzled why you need to turn if off. Disabling pondering will
certainly reduce playing strength.

Hey Jon,
For engine matches on a computer with one CPU, it is preferred to have pondering off so that the active engine CPU time is not reduced by the other engine pondering...
