Hey all, the new version of SOS, that being in the Young Talents went up against Crafty 17.10.
Results were:
10.5-6.5 in favor of crafty. Sos only won 3 games... each side had 25min to move, games played on one P3 800, 32mb hash for each prog, ponder off.
Thanks,
Oh yeah does anyone want to see any particular engine play against eachother. I've got all the latest chessbase engines Fritz, Junior, Nimzo, Hiarcs... Plus winboard engines, and Young Talents. Anybody have any requests for engine vs engine or tournaments.... I'll play it if you want. Just tell me who you want to see in action and the time control. Email me if you want.
Thanks.
Phil

It would be nice to have a similar match, same timecontrol and settings, between AnMon and SOS.
Best wishes...

Hey Mogens,
Ok I think I'll do that. I like both SOS and Anmon, should be good. I'll play 17 games between them, just like I did with Crafty and SOS.
Bye.

If you plan to run a match between Chessbase engines, I'd like to see one between Junior and Hiarcs. I love the Hiarcs moves, and I'm considering getting Junior6 (not Deep Junior). I'd prefer to see 60 moves in 15 minutes or more for time control.
I think Junior might be better for me because I like the new Fritz6 interface, but Hiarcs uses the old interface (I wonder why?), and I don't care for Fritz games very much, so for me it would be mostly a choice between buying Junior, or Hiarcs. Thanks.

Hey Pete,
Ya I like Hiarcs also, I find other engines have troubles beating it on shorter time controls. I'll set up some 60moves in 15min match between Junior 6a and Hiarcs 7.32 after my Anmon and SOS match is done. I'll play 20 games, that way we can get a good idea of who is "better" at that time control. Of course 1000 games would be better! So far in the SOS vs Anmon match SOS is leading 7.5-3.5 I think SOS is an excellent engine... But crafty is still better :)
So tommorow some time I'll start up the match between Junior and Hiarcs should be a good one, it's to bad I can't connect both my computers instead of using just one, but the computer I use for the chess matches is a P3 800, the other one I have (the one I'm using now for the internet) is Pentium 90, 16mb ram... hehe.
Oh well...
Thanks,
Phil

Thanks. My computer is a Pentium 90, with a little bit more ram, I just got it up to 64mb about a week ago. It's as dependable as a bucket of rusty nails, and about as fast as one too. But the computer you run your Chess programs on is pretty darn fast. 800mhz is allot faster than most people have, that's pretty good.
