I consider not to allow future Movei to use Fritz

Postby Uri Blass » 30 Jul 2005, 09:01

The reason is games like the folllowing game when zappa lost on time because of the chessbase interface.

My question is if there is a way to tell programs to refuse to run under chessbase but not refuse to run under winboard or under shredder classic

The program should detect chessbase gui and simply refuse to run underr that interface.

I think chessbase gui send the command "fritz", so it should be easy, when recieving this command, to tell your engine to exit. :-)

Hi Dave,

that has been a long time ago with the Chessbase Winboard adapter, but no such ?fritz? command is actually sent to UCI engines. So Uri will have to find out another method ...

Franz.

Hi Uri,

Couldn't you check for Fritz process running and exit Movei if detected ?

Here's a link to some c++ code that checks for processes running.

Hello Uri,

games with more than 256 moves are rare and I am pretty sure, nobody misses a single game of any reasonable value, if games are aborted at move 256.
Well, one may call it a bug, a bad feature, it should be fixed, of course,
but I dont see a great catastrophe. Not at all.
