I disagree here AnthonyI'm reminded of Schroer's "uncharted tactical madness" comment.
Also, I forgot that your Zappa has my awful experimental piece value code (soon abandoned). My Zappa plays 28. Rxe5 instead of the silly Qc5. In that variation white ends up with an extra pawn.
Still I find it hard to be proud of that game. At move 36 Zappa had only a slightly better position (the N probably weaker than the Q). Booot decided not to push its h pawn, and that is why it lost.
After move 36:
1... Qh2xf2 2. Kc1-b2 Qf2-f3 3. a2-a4 h6-h5 4. a4-a5 h5-h4 5. a5-a6 h4-h3 6. Qb5-b8 Qf3-g2 7. a6-a7 h3-h2 8. a7-a8=Q
= (-0.78) Depth: 14/22 00:01:10.86 64203kN
Next game is probably vs Fruit?
That will probably be pretty tough, especially with Black . . .
anthony
I suspect you are right. I am not too surprised, as the passed pawn situation greatly favors the white bishop over the black knight. Still I feel like Zappa sort of stumbled into the win (it certainly has no knowledge of that sort). I was very proud of the game vs Rybka, but this one seems more like luck.Zappa_070X - Booot_32

The other stuff is still consuming most of my time at the moment. Also I am going to switch to Gentoo next weekend - setting up a linux box from scratch is at least a weekend of work, especially a bleeding edge one like mine. However I have managed to fix the threads, and my development version of Zappa played 800 bullet games against Crafty without crashing or losing on time, unlike the version you have which lasted about 15 on averageG:That might be true, I am also interested in next rounds Fruit vs. Zappa.I suspect you are right. Looking at the results of the previous Open Class, it appears that the top 4-5 programs all scored 90% or more during the last 10 games. There is probably more of a disparity in strength in the open class.
G:Of course, because all programs (except wildcards) start there, I guess
though that the big difference will vanish a bit, after weeding programs out
beneath place 42 in this edition.
BTW are you working again on Zappa, or are you still too much busy with
your projects?

Hi Oliver
sorry I am so bad at compiling the book.
The reason why it played a6 it was played only once.
- a move played once and if it is a win score is 100%
I multiply this by some factor to account for uncertainity(0.9).
so score was still too good not to be played. The only way it can avoid
such moves is for it to play it once and lose/draw the game. That will drop the score to 50%.
But i now understand i have to work more on compiling the book.
best wishes

Yeah you are right. I just found out i made a big mistake in the book code.
I am working on the book right now. Apparently white wins are also counted as
