FYI
This beta version can be downloaded from http://terra.fendrich.se
It's probably the last beta version before releasing version 3.3 and that's probably my last Terra version!

Hi Peter,

Yes, it probably will but not only bitboards as in Terra.
My plan is a hybrid but further tests will give some answers.
Another thing is the automatic tuning that will need more cpu power than I can ever get.
One run will need x weeks of 100% cpu time from my current computer.
One first run that prepares the data will take about 9 weeks of my cpu time.
Later on I will call for help on occupying cpu:s and how to distribute tasks like this to many computers. I have no knowledge about it but I have heard about things like start running when the screen saver goes on.
/Peter

Have you adopted to UCI+ where a "ucinegame" is send from the game, if a new game begins? Older Terraversions were confused by that command.

Wow ! But I doubt that such expensive automatic tuning will help much.
The problem arises when you modify some stuff in Eval(). You would then
have to repeat the whole expensive automatic tuning. Right ?
We are all watching and waiting for outcome of the new approach.
Good Luck,
Matthias.

In fact I haven't but it seems that this version is not confused by UCI+.
If you encounter problems please let me know.
Before the final release I will make sure that UCI+ works and also react to some of the new commands possible.

I hope it will help and who is talking about Eval?
You're right of course about changing things but that's more of an academic problem. In practice you don't have to do all of it automatically all the time. One can do manual changes as before.
The automatic stuff can be run when there is a chance to find something useful and also for just a part of the complete set.
I will give a full explanation of all this later on when it's time to start!

Knowing how Peter works, it is easy to conclude that he has very good ideas for his next engine.
I could only work a short time for Peter, but he showed me that he is very dedicated in solving the reported problems, besides being a very polite and positive person to chat online and discuss different topics.
In a few words: He is a great person and his new engine will be great too.
Good luck with your new engine, Peter!!

Hi Nicolas,
I think it's a good idea to use this version. I will probably not work on improvements except for bugs, until the final 3.3 version.
