Enginelist, latest updates/new engines:
07/06/2004:
Updated: TRACE v1.28
Updated: Alex v1.60.03 (Also UCI now!)
From Ross about the new version TRACE 1.28:
Main new features are:
================
- pawn hashing. (Yes, finally...)
(to configure, edit trace.cfg for example, to allocate 4MB for pawn hashing just add this line:
hashp 4
- bugfix so it actually works under Arena
- bugfix so it actually recognises incremental time controls (!!)
- major changes/additions to eval - outposts, more draws recognised (still tuning)
- improved endgame play (well, occasionally)
- more aggressive time management
- no longer uses hash table in qsearch. (should help with longer time controls)

Detailed details are in the readme.txt

From Normand about the new version Alex 1.60.03:
My program now supports both protocols: UCI (version 1) and winboard.
I have included (as always) an opening data file (Alex.bin) which is only compatible with this new version.
I have tried to keep the file small but it is not easy.
The maximum depth for this opening database is 10 moves.
But you can use other opening databases using the UCI protocol and the proper
GUI (Arena for example) or create a new one from a set of games in pgn format.
Best wishes,
Leo.
