Athlon 2000
256mb hash each (or closest allowed by each program)
3,4,5 piece tablebases
All using Fritz Powerbook tournament book (maximum variety, minimum 5 games for a move to be played, no learning)
40 moves in 40 minutes repeating.
Ponder off
Tournament run under Deep Fritz 8 GUI

The following 9 programs will already be in the field of 12 to contest Super Tournament III at 40 moves in 120 minutes repeating:
Deep Fritz 8
Shredder 8
Hiarcs 9
Ruffian 2.1.0
Chessmaster 9000
Chess Tiger 15
Aristarch 4.50
Deep Junior 8
SmarThink 0.17a

The top 3 programs from the qualifying stage below will join the above 9 in Super Tournament III:

STANDINGS (after 14 of 68 rounds)
9.5 - Tao 5.6
9.0 - List 512, Pharaon 2.62
8.5 - El Chinito 3.25, SOS 4, Gandalf 5.1
8.0 - Deep Sjeng 1.6
7.5 - Delfi 4.5
7.0 - Crafty 19.14
6.5 - Thinker 4.6c, Little Goliath Revival, Yace 0.99.87
6.0 - Gothmog 1.0b7, Rebel 12, Anaconda 1.6.2
5.0 - Fruit 1.5
4.5 - Comet B68
3.5 - SlowChess 2.93a

It would be nice to get some feedback as to how many of you are following this tournament. I know it's not being played under the Winboard or Arena GUIs, but it does involve many of the top free engines.
Graham.

Hello Graham
At least I am following your tournament... Don't be worried too much if you get few feedback, people use to follow events silently.
When I post results here or in other fora, I use to get a few answers sometimes, and no answer most of the time. But this really doesn't bother me, because when I look at my website statistics, I can see that more than 100 people are checking my results daily.
So keep running this interesting tourney, please
Olivier

Thanks for replying Olivier.
I guess I too am guilty of following tournaments with interest, but without often expressing a view or opinion. I will certainly be continuing this event to its conclusion and I'm really looking forward to running the 40/120.
Graham.
