Hi all

as all testers know by our vast private email contact we have still to do the Crafty benching for the best compile for all and the Axon Benchmark adaptation to 2Ghz.
Those testers who are keen to start, can of course start on Monday. We should leave time to Klaus, Volker and Ralf and to Antonio to check their new version for bugs until Sunday night. Testers who want to start with their games for A should leave out List as long as we did not come to conclusions with Fabien, who kindly offered his help. It is still valid what I wrote before that no tester is obliged to deliver a certain number of games, what would be hard for those who only have one computer free or have to play games with much more time on slower hardware. Games one tester is unable to play can be played by the other ones to help him. We decide this later, also this things of how to coordinate and combine or compare results.
And moreover I will send to you on Sunday a general guidance only in case that there might be some not so experienced tester (what I do not believe), where I give all what is forbidden in tournaments and tests, things like pressing the "resign button" or declaring a 176 moves game with bishops of opposite colours a draw by yourself. I already wrote to all some more points concerning this, although I am convinced that you all very well know what is allowed or not.
For general things concerning rules and participants please check Igor´s site
(okay Will?).

Thanks a lot for this Igor. With all the trouble over yesterday I was so far not able to do the same, but it will be done soon.
Up to now we have six testers in A and B and two testers for the "in-between engines". For A and B so every tester should first try to run a double round robin where each engine faces any other one two times with coloured reversed.
So there will be 22 games with 40/40 (CPU dependent)for each engine from every tester and 6x22=132 games for each engine from all combined for the beginning. Those things are all valid for both groups, also in B every engine will have this amount of game with same time control.
Now to the in-between engines. As I told you "big" tournament for me not only means a lot of games, but also a lot of engines. I just phoned with Ralf who will help with two fast computers for testing "in-between engines" and he shares my opinion that a tournament with those engines would be more fun and suspense than running gauntlets. We have three fast computers for such a possible tournament (also my third one) and we calculated that we are able to run this tournament in a reasonable amount of time even when there will be no new testers over the time to help us.
I repeat the engines for this group (and if our proposal is okay we would start not before Tuesday). All in this group according to the same rules and time control and of course with the latest version, if not an author prefers to send a newer one to all (!) testers. To all is necessary because there might be a switch at any time to another tournament where more help is needed.
Amy
Amyan
Dragon
El Chinito
Fruit
Green Light Chess
Jonny
King of Kings
Little Goliath
Movei
SlowChess
SOS
Ufim
WildCat
So twelve engines from this will go to the tournament and two more will hop between the groups later via gauntlets for better rating control. Ralf proposes for the gauntlets Little Goliath Revival (latest, but very probably not strongest version) and SOS.
And at last here is my proposal to all other testers how to name the tournaments definitely, so that readers already can identify by the title of the link if it deals with those groups they are most interested in.
King´s Class (to what is now A)
Queen´s Class (to what is now "in-between")
Rook´s Class (those is the not defined group I mentioned in an earlier post where are those engines in that are stronger than most participants in B and we will hopefully will soon find new testers for)
Bishop´s Class (to what is now B)
There should be promotion and relegation (how many we have to fix) if we continue with a second AEGT and updated versions.
Should there really come many new testers interested also in the weaker engines I am the first one who is in favour of additional Knight´s and Pawn Classes.
Best Regards
Heinz
