Question to Daniel about DanChess ini file

Daniel, the default settings for DanChess are 32mb hash, 16mb pawnhash and 8mb book hash.
As in AEGT 64mb hash are allowed, does it make sense to increase pawnhash or book hash, or is it just a waste ?

Hi Oliver
please use
main hash 32mb
pawn hash 20mb
book hash 2mb
the rest of memory doesn't have any effect
I have already changed danchess.ini file to make it more comfortable to read.

What is book hash?
book is an external file so I do not understand the need for hash for it.

book is an external file so I do not understand the need for hash for it.
I load all book positions in to RAM at start up.
Previously i used hashing technique like the normal hashtable for
my books but now i changed that in to sorted array of positions.

Many thanks Dan
The first game of DanChess in AEGT (a loss vs Snitch) is going to be replayed with these new settings).

Hi Oliver
no need to replay the game. Snitch had the better luck this time.
Just use this setting for the rest of the games.

Good sportsmanship :)
I stopped the replayed game, Snitch was ahead anyway.

Hello Daniel,
and those that can give 128 MB. What do you propose? I do not suppose doubling all values :-).

Hi Heinz
//Hash table sizes in MB understood by DanChess
MAIN_HASH_SIZE 16 //1 , 2 , 4 , 8 , 16 , 32 , 64 , 128
PAWN_HASH_SIZE 5 //1 , 2 , 3 , 5 , 10 , 20 , 40 ,
pawn hash size greater 10MB is not that much use
so the best setting for a 128MB will be
main hash size 128MB
pawn hash size 5MB //if you allow extra 5MB
else
main hash size 64MB
pawn hash size 64MB

//book cache in MB
//change this value only if you want to create a larger book
//for DanChess from a large game collection
BOOK_CACHE 2
this parameter seems to confuse some people. Don't change the default value.
