This is no surprise. Amateur is one of those engines which almost always wins
against Gothmog. With Amateur playing white, 1-0 is definitely the expected
result.
Other nightmare opponents for Gothmog are Abrok, Baron, Butcher, and Thinker.

Thinker is a nightmare for everyone. I still haven't recovered my my lose to Thinker in CCT.

BTW a draw would be sufficient for Zappa (...if Zappa wins)
It is also possible that you reach Kaissa if it would lose...
(even a promotion match is possible in case of same Buchholz)

Thinker is a nightmare for everyone.

It is, but according to most of the rating lists I have seen, it is not much
stronger than List and Ruffian. Based on Gothmog's results against these three
engines, however, it looks Thinker is lightyears ahead of the two others.
