Delfi as UCI

Postby Gábor Szots » 02 Mar 2006, 18:54

I noticed that if you use Delfi as a UCI engine (via the WB2UCI adapter by Odd Gunnar Malin) it always ponders even if the GUI is set to ponder off. This is equally true for the Shredder GUI and the CB GUI as well.
However, there is a way to circumvent this: include a line 'Ponder=false' in the WB2UCI.eng file.

Hello G?bor :D

Thanks for your remark but I didn't notice this Ponderation with the last version beta (16.06.2005) and not with the version of the 22.07.2003.

Which OS do you use or which version do you use ?

Best wishes

Hi Claude,

I was referring to version 4.6 (2005.oct.14.) which is the latest version I know of. Your reply made me suspect we were not speaking of the same program, Delfi by Fabio Cavicchio.
I use Windows XP.

Best wishes,

Hello G?bor,

I wrote about the version of wb2uci.exe.

I have the same version as your.

Your OS is Windows XP, did you have the last Service Pack 2 ?

Thanks for your replies

Best wishes

Hi Claude,

In the meantime I realized you were talking about the adapter, not about Delfi.

I have just checked the whole thing. Here I use WinXP SP2 and the adapter of 2005.6.16. And everything is all right (no pondering)! Changing the adapter does not have an influence.

At home (from where I posted the original message) I use WinXP SP1. I simply can't believe it can make a difference! Or can it? And why just in the case of Delfi??

Hello G?bor,

I have to update my Windows XP Home edition to the SP2 because I had problems to display the move with the new Fritz 9 GUI.

After the installation all was ok. The problem was so viewbar that I haven't tested other possibilities. I never had problems with Delfi (or DelfiT) with Fritz 8 and ponderation. Perhaps, can you try.

But I am afraid to be Off Topic with Fritz Gui's problems and we can go on via email.

I am waiting for your email or Personnal messages if you want. You know it.

Best wishes
