A utility to split a pgn file into 1-0, 0-1 and 1/2-1/2 file

Postby Norm Pollock » 19 Jul 2006, 00:35

Hi,

I have a new pgn utility, split.exe, that creates 4 new files from a pgn file.
outW.pgn contains the 1-0 games.
outB.pgn contains the 0-1 games.
outD.pgn contains the 1/2-1/2 games.
outN.pgn contains the games with no result.

It works from a command line:
split filename.pgn

The link for the time being is

www.hoflink.com/~npollock/split.rar

Thanks Norm.

Would you like me to put 'Split' with your other pgn utilities on my
homepage?

Regards,
Jim.

Good work Norm. Unfortunately I already have one that does exactly the same but removes all comments/annotations. It's called FireFly

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

I'm having trouble getting to your home page via wbec. Do you have a direct link? I thought "FireFly" was a chess engine. But it is also a pgn manager? I didn't know that and I look forward to using it.

As for my utility "split", there is nothing new about it (unlike my other 2 utility programs on Jim's site). I have been separating pgn files in the past using Scid. The trouble with Scid is that it takes much more time and you have to really "know" how to use Scid. So I decided to write a direct program that just "does it" fast, and is extremely easy to use in a command line.
