Winboard FAQ available again

Postby Ron Murawski » 30 Nov 2006, 20:24

Since Aaron Tay is no longer interested in updating or maintaining the Winboard FAQ I have decided to host the information. I have stripped quite a bit out of Aaron's original website html files. My interest is confined to the Winboard GUI alone and to useful chess tools. In time I will cover WinboardX and all the many new tools that have been developed since the last FAQ update. I intend to convert the entire FAQ into a wiki. Eventually the information will appear on its own website with no connection to horizonchess. Are there any volunteers out there interested in helping out?

Best regards,
Ron

Thanks a bunch! This was one of my favorite Winboard websites. Turning it into a wiki is a very good idea! Everbody can help add tips and tricks to it.

In order to protect the future site from vandalism, anonymous wiki updates will *not* be allowed! But, anyone who emails me a request will be made a wiki admin. Perhaps I will set up a "sandbox page" for anonymous users. I need to learn a bit more about wikis before the system can be set up. But first I need to obtain a good domain name for the FAQ! :)

Best regards,
Ron

Thanks a lot from my side too! I'm going to update the links from the forum soon.

Winboard FAQ? ;-) But since I changed to Linux I'm considering to change the name of the forum too because there are some differences to xboard not to speak about Winboard_X, but I didn't found a solution so far.

Hi Ron,

Many many thanks for making this site avaible again. They are a lot of comprehensive answers in it. 8-)

You're even sparing this forum from some questions I was about to ask.

Best wishes.
