PyChess a Linux GUI/frontend for chess programs

Postby Guenther Simon » 09 Jan 2007, 13:56

A programmer friend(who is not into chess) sent
me a link about a chess interface in Linux.
I did not know it yet(but I don't use Linux at home),
thus I thought it might be of interest perhaps...

If I read correctly it supports the xboard protocol
and it is planned to support UCI too later.

I read the same :-). It looks very similar I tested in the last year. I don't remember if it was identical. At this time a bit sceptical to install something what isn't in the Fedora repositories.

I found another GUI there which is simply called Chess. It is a 3D board. It should work under Windows too. However, it seems to me it is centered to the 3D GUI. Support of engines is unknown. I even did'nt get what engine is playing :-(.
