Shredder Classic 1.1 available!

Postby Ingo Bauer » 06 Oct 2004, 22:06

Hello

At www.shredderchess.com and www.shredderchess.de you can download an update to
the version 1.1 of the Shredder Classic GUI!

The new version has the ability to download future updates directly from the
Internet and some minor changes to the GUI!
The new Shredder Classic Engine is more intelligent and can be tested for 30
days without limitations!

Have fun
Ingo Bauer

PS: The Shredder Classic GUI supports WB I as well!
PPS: I hope it is ok to post this here. If not, pls delete it!

Hi

It is a UCI engine and you should be able to use it in any UCI capable GUI. If the Fritz8 GUI is really completly UCI capable is another thing ... Do not expect Shredder Classic to be better than your Shredder 8!

What's the connection between Shredder 7.04 as used in WBEC, and Shredder Classic?

Hi

I am not sure if I understand your question. What connection do you expect?

S3, S4, S5, S5.32, S6, S7, S7.04, S8 are successors (and some minor versions in between)

Shredder Classic is the GUI from Stefan Meyer-Kahlen and a "stripped" Shredder ( 8 ) engine.
I am pretty sure that the Shredder Classic Engine is weaker than S7.04 if that is your question.

Bye

Ingo,

Thanks for answering all my questions.

So it is my understanding that the Shredder Classic engine (which derives from Shredder8) is being developed separately and apart from Shredder 8. It is possible that future versions of the "Shredder Classic" engine might be more powerful than future versions of "Shredder x", but that is not the case now.
