Winboard protocol tutorial

Hello
I'm trying to build a Winboard engine from scratch but the protocol seems a little bit complicated. Does anyone have knowledge of some tutorial and/or source code that can make things easier ?

You could look at Crafty, TSCP, or anyother engine that releases its source to see how they implemented it.
