Bug in Zappa book

Postby Sergio Martinez » 12 Mar 2005, 15:48

Hi. In a game against Tinker, Zappa using publicbook played 7.Kf2???

I check it and Zappa has this move in its opening book (public.zbook, modified 21/2/2005).

Best Regards

Yes. Please, use the new _random_ book. However, it won?t be fixed since it is a random book. Neither the other previous book will be updated.

Using the new book, you will have more options in the opening. Just that.

For additional information, go here http://volker-pittlik.name/wbforum/viewtopic.php?t=1934 and

Hi

Thanks Guenther. I didnt see the change of book and I was using old book. Maybe I could check more games of Zappa. The new book has solved the problem and it is very stable.

Thanks Arturo. I have just downloaded the book and I will replace the old book.

Hello:

After surfing a while your web site, I was able to find the game:

[Event "25205"]
[Site "CARTAGENA"]
[Date "2005.03.06"]
[Round "1"]
[White "Zappa 1.0"]
[Black "Tinker 4.69"]
[Result "1-0"]
[ECO "C36"]
[Opening "KGA"]
[Time "15:32:32"]
[Variation "Modern Defence, Botvinnik Variation"]
[TimeControl "300+1"]
[Termination "normal"]
[PlyCount "126"]
[WhiteType "program"]
[BlackType "program"]

1.e4 e5 2.f4 d5 3.exd5 exf4 4.Nf3 Nf6 5.Bb5+ Bd7 6.Bc4 Qe7+ 7.Kf2 Qc5+ 8.d4 Ne4+
9.Kg1 Qxc4 10.Bxf4 Be7 11.Nbd2 Nxd2 12.Qxd2 O-O 13.b3 Qxd5 14.Bxc7 Qc6 15.Bg3 Bd6
16.Re1 Bxg3 17.hxg3 Qg6 18.Ne5 Qxg3 19.Re3 Qg5 20.Rxh7 Kxh7 21.Rh3+ Bxh3 22.Qxg5 Bc8
23.Qe7 Kg8 24.d5 a6 25.d6 b5 26.c4 bxc4 27.bxc4 a5 28.c5 Be6 29.c6 Na6 30.d7 Rfd8
31.a3 Nc7 32.Qd6 Nb5 33.Qc5 Rab8 34.a4 Nc7 35.Qxa5 Nd5 36.c7 Nxc7 37.Qxc7 g6 38.a5
Kg7 39.a6 Rba8 40.Qd6 Kg8 41.Kf2 Kh7 42.Qe7 Kg7 43.Ke3 Bd5 44.g4 Kg8 45.Kd4 Be6
46.Kc5 Kg7 47.a7 Kh7 48.Qf6 Kh6 49.Kd6 Rac8 50.Qxe6 fxe6 51.Nf7+ Kg7 52.Nxd8 Rxd8
53.Ke7 Ra8 54.d8=Q Rxa7+ 55.Kxe6 Ra6+ 56.Ke5 Ra7 57.Kf4 Rb7 58.Qd4+ Kh7 59.Qe4 Ra7
60.Kg5 Ra5+ 61.Kf6 Ra7 62.Qxg6+ Kh8 63.Qh5+ {Black resigns} 1-0

Even though the game was a blitz game, it has been the most useful discovering about a book in the previous book. I thank you that your Tournament found this. Of course, I have fixed this in this previous book.

1.e4 e5 2.f4 d5 3.exd5 exf4 4.Nf3 Nf6 5.Bb5+? It just an inferior line against 3. ... exf4?. It must be an old horror since I had not played the King?s Gambit for years.

By the way, the new book will have its other holes as all random book.

Best wishes, Arturo.

Hi Arturo.

Yep, I saw this game yesterday. I see first the games with strange results (is evident the difference of strengh between both programs, but in a blitz game can see many surprises). So, I must check more games.

In other way, I have tested a bit the new book and I dont see problems like this, but I dont lose the hope

I have the same problem with King gambit ( I played it for years)

Best Regards
