Postby Roy Harper » 19 Feb 2005, 16:01

I saw the program listed on web so I tried it the address's included with the program (3) are not alive.

the email to Tom is dead .
So is the program also dead ?

any suggestions for a program that i can use to play my engine against other chess engines live?

the winboard program is very hard to set up for computer vs computer
internet play was thinking that there may be another available.

I not absolutely sure if I got you right. TLCV is available here:

The program is doing as well as Tom's mail address who is also online sometimes here in this forum.

Arena, Fritz, Shredder, ChessPartner... to name some.
BTW: TLCV is not software whic enables you to play two engines against each other. This have to be done in Winboard or Arena. The TLCV server can read their debug files. TLCV can be used to view this games via internet or local. I use that setup also to view local games because TLCV is just a very nice GUI which displays the information better than Winboard does (IMO).

Tom's chess viewer is a viewer, ie. it cannot be used to setup engine-engine matches. On Tom's website, there is a utility for installing engines in winboard. You can use Winboard + Tournament managers to play series of eng-eng matches.

Easier way is to use Arena, which can do these things automatically, and engines are easy to install in Arena. It is free as well.

there is no email address listed in the membership list maybe there is a new one in some of his posts to the forum i will check..

also what I tried to state is that the 3 address's he provides with the program do not connect to anything
in other words it just sets there and does nothing.

Strange, I'm not sure why you had a problem sending me an email. I've just tested my yahoo email account and it works fine for me.

Those three addresses probably didn't work because the people who own those addresses were probably not broadcasting at the time you tried to connect. You need to look here or at Leo's BB or CCC for anouncements of broadcasts. You can broadcast yourself by downloading the broadcast server program.

Cheers,
Tom.
